Sponsorship of FIFA Club World Cup boosts Alibaba Cloud in Middle East!

Alibaba Cloud, the cloud computing arm of Alibaba Group, has identified the UAE as an important market for the its growth, with their multi-year FIFA sponsorship deal seeing them named official presenting partner for the 2017 FIFA Club World Cup in the UAE. The fact that the FIFA Club World Cup is hosted by the UAE in 2017 and 2018 is the perfect platform given the passion for football and the growth potential in the country.

Alibaba Cloud is the official presenting partner for the 2017 FIFA Club World Cup in the UAE which is currently being played. As part of the sponsorship, Alibaba Cloud logos are featured across tournament branding, as well as being the official presenter of the tournament’s Alibaba Cloud Award after the final match held at Zayed Sports City stadium this Saturday, December 16.

“The UAE is an important market for Alibaba Cloud, with its strong momentum in digital transformation and a growing internet ecosystem,” said Simon Hu, Senior Vice President of Alibaba Group and President of Alibaba Cloud. “We hope to apply our cloud computing capabilities to sports and bring new aspects of fun and enjoyment to sports fans in the region. This year marks the beginning of Alibaba Cloud becoming the FIFA Club World Cup’s Presenting Partner. By leveraging the influence of FIFA in the UAE we hope to give more people in the region, especially young people, access to the benefits of cloud technology from China.”

The world-leading cloud services provider has also been a strong supporter of the 2017 FIFA Club World Cup in the UAE Mobile Roadshow, a skill based challenge activation which has been touring the UAE’s schools, parks, malls and public spaces since May, and now makes up part of the Fan Village’s at Zayed Sports City stadium, Abu Dhabi and Hazza bin Zayed stadium, Al Ain – the two co-hosting stadiums of this year’s tournament.

The Mobile Roadshow has already attracted thousands of participants from across the UAE, with many more expected to take on the challenges over the course of the tournament, with the highly anticipated final taking place in Abu Dhabi on Saturday, December 16, between Real Madrid CF and Gremio FBPA.

This year’s tournament sponsorship further encourages technology ties between the UAE and China, which Alibaba Cloud is also looking forward to building on during next year’s tournament, hosted once again in the UAE, with the goal of making the tournament the most innovative yet.
