TAG Heuer celebrates the Bundesliga Legends Tour in Bogota!

Swiss luxury watch brand TAG Heuer, Official Partner and Official Timekeeper of the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2, celebrated the Bundesliga Legends Tour 2017 with an exclusive event held at the TAG Heuer pop up store at the Andino Mall of Bogota. It was the occasion for the brand to announce that Lothar Matthäus will now be part of the TAG Heuer Family as Friend of the Brand.

European Champion, World Champion, two UEFA Cup wins, eight domestic league titles, Lothar Matthäus is a true legend. He holds the record for the most World Cup matches played by a single player (25 games) and is a member of the FIFA 100 list of the greatest living football players.

About this new Friend of the Brand, Carlos Ariza, TAG Heuer local agent remarked: „One of TAG Heuer’s communication universes is sport and achieving these alliances with world-class soccer legends such as Lothar Matthäus is an excellent opportunity to get closer to young audiences and football lovers“.

Lothar Matthaüs to add, „Spreading my passion for football and inspiring young people to #DontCrackUnderPresure is a great opportunity I’m committed to achieving with TAG Heuer as the Bundesliga’s OfficialTimekeeper.“

The press conference started with a welcome speech by local TV sport anchor Adolfo Perez who highlighted the interesting timing as Colombia just classified for the World Cup. He welcomed Lothar Matthäus, who was joined by two iconic former Colombian players: Freddy Rincón, remembered for his performance during the 1990 FIFA World Cup and Adolfo „El Tren“ Valencia, the first Colombian to play for the Bundesliga.

Lothar Matthäus and Freddy Rincón exchanged about their shared #DontCrackUnderPressure moment during the 1990 World Cup when Germany and Colombia were competing for the title. This is one of the most remembered matches by Colombian fans, as Freddy Rincón scored a goal only two minutes left to finish the game and got Colombia classified to the round of 16.

The press conference was followed by a meet-and-greet with a group of children from Acompañame a la Escuela, a non-profit organization focus on the education of children in need in Colombian rural areas providing them schools transportation. Guided by the German Legend and the two iconic Colombian players the children tested their precision, intensity and dexterity skills at the TAG Heuer ICON challenge competing to shoot as many goals possible in a limited time.

Sports timekeeping is part of TAG Heuer’s DNA. Since 2015, with Jean-Claude Biver, TAG Heuer CEO and President of the LVMH Watch Division, the Swiss watchmaker enhanced its presence in football becoming Official Timekeeper and Official Watch for the most prestigious and iconic names, leagues, organisations, and people who share similar values and a strong vision.
