Two more Dempo Academy boys selected for India U-16 boys camp!

Dempo Sports Club today announced that two more of their Academy boys have been shortlisted and invited to train with the India Under-16 team reporting at the AIFF Training Centre in Fatorda.

Centre-Backs, Delmon Rebello and Shayne Don Afonso will join their Eagles teammate Shameek Caine Vas who is already at the camp as the India Under-16’s prepare for the AFC Under-16 Championship scheduled to take place in Bahrain later this year.

Delmon and Shayne will form part of the ever growing, Dempo Sports Club Academy contingent at the National Camps, after their performances in the Sub-Junior Nationals held at Jabalpur and Kalyani drew the attention of the ever present AIFF scouts at the tournament. With Shameek Vas already having tasted gold under Bibiano Fernandes at the SAFF Under-15 Championships, he will form the last part of the trident as the Golden Eagles look to their ever growing representation at these camps as a sign of things to come.

Speaking on three of his boys being selected for the camp, Dempo Academy head coach Remus Gomes had this to say, “This is the result of the Hard work the boys have put day in and out, on and off the field, and the work put in by Mr. Dempo, who’s dream to see local talent dominate the national selections once again is slowly building momentum.”

Speaking on the ever increasing number of boys being shortlisted and invited after making the cut, The Eagles Technical Director Anju Turambekar had this to say, “Being called up for any National Camp in any youth age category shows the ability to shine at professional football. We are proud of our boys and our coaching staff for taking and executing their responsibility both on and off the field. These opportunities encourage us to focus on the detailing of player development, further enabling us to strive & produce more talent for the state and the country.”
