U-16 Youth League – Final Round: Minerva Punjab FC trash Kenkre FC 8-0!

Defending Champions Minerva Punjab FC outclassed their opponents Kenkre FC in an one-sided Round 2 Fixture of the U-16 Youth League Final Round played at the Cooperage Football Stadium in Mumbai.

The Warriors from Punjab opened their account in the game in the 17th Minute when striker Luntinmang Haokip scored an absolute stunner to give the visitors an early lead. The next minute saw a harsh foul on a Minervan in the box only to be awarded a penalty, Bhagirat got his job well done as he placed his shot perfectly in the left-corner of the post. The champions showed a commanding display in midfield and the use of the wings gave them the third goal as Bhagirat was again on the scoresheet finishing off Anwar Ali’s beautiful through ball catching the Kenkre FC defence napping. At the break it stayed 3-0.

The second half kicked off with Henba continuing the goalscoring spree with a perfect finish from a run down the left-flank. Minutes later Luntinmang Haokip was replaced in favour of Arjun Kumar and the substitute soon made his presence felt when he scored in the very next minute to make it 5-0 and set up another for Bhagirat to make it half-a-dozen for the Warriors, while Bhagirat completed his hattrick. But the goals continued as Nongdamba Noarem finished off Arjun’s assist quite well to make it 7-0. Sailo nailed the final nail into Kenkre FC’s coffin as he made it 8-0 in the last minute of the game.

Minerva Punjab FC rather easily won the encounter 8-0 to score their second consecutive group win after having won against Royal Wahingdoh FC in their opening game. In their final group game they will face the Tata Football Academy on Monday, February 6 at 6.30pm at the Cooperage Football Stadium in Mumbai.
