UEFA’s Social Responsibility partners get together in Nyon!

It has now become an annual tradition for UEFA’s social responsibility partners to come together to review the past year and plan for the season ahead.

The workshop coincides with the publication of the 2015/16 UEFA Football Social Responsibility (FSR) report. Around €4.2m was invested in FSR activities last season, covering a range of topics such as inclusion, diversity, solidarity, peace and reconciliation, health, fan dialogue, and environment.

“It has been great to catch-up with fellow social and responsibility partners and see how they are progressing,” said Adam McEvoy from the European Powerchair Football Association. “This, and the topics brought forward for discussion by UEFA, gave us some positive ideas which we are very excited about, and we’ll look forward to implementing them over the coming months.”

UEFA is determined to keep ensuring that football makes a valuable contribution to society, and to refine the processes and tools which enable the game’s European governing body to do that work. Topics discussed at the workshop included best practices amongst the partners, collaboration between partners and football associations, and including human rights criteria in the bidding processes for the 2018/19 club competitions and UEFA EURO 2024.
Ryan Mackie from the Homeless World Cup said: “It has been an interesting couple of days. We found out about UEFA’s plans going forward and explored some potential opportunities for collaboration with other partners.”

The current cycle will end with the football season on June 30 and partners left Nyon motivated to contribute to the drafting of the 2016/17 UEFA Social Responsibility Report.
