Uganda defender Ivan Bukenya signs for East Bengal ahead of I-League!

east-bengal-ivan-bukenyaKolkata giants East Bengal Club today introduced to the media their latest signing in Ugandan defender Ivan Bukenya ahead of the upcoming I-League season.

The 25 year old Ivan Bukenya was born in the capital of Uganda, Kampala, and was scouted at a youth tournament by Ugandan Super League club Profile FC for whom he played at the top level.

Bukenya moved to Iraq to join top side Arbil SC in 2011 and played two seasons for them. In 2012 he had faced East Bengal in the AFC Cup.

After his two years in Iraq, Bukenya moved back to Africa to sign for South African giants Kaizer Chiefs in 2013 and he stayed with them for three years before now moving to India.

The tall Bukenya besides playing as a centre back, can also play as a midfielder with the red and gold hoping that he is going to be one of the foreign players, who gel well with their Indian counterparts and allow the club to target the elusive I-League trophy.
