United SC thrash Bhaichung Bhutia Football Schools 9-0 in their U-18 I-League opener!

United SC started off with a 9-0 victory over Bhaichung Bhutia Football School in their match of the U-18 I-League – Final Round in the Kalyani Stadium.

Twelve teams qualified from the previous round are participating in this final round of the U-18 I-League 2016-17. Teams coming from all across the country are divided into three groups of four teams each with United SC drawn into Group B alongside Bhaichung Bhutia Football School, Salgaocar FC and Royal Wahingdoh FC.

The United SC coaching team, which includes Saurajit Das, Partha Sen, Debraj Chatterjee and Nirmalya Halder, has drafted in six new face in the squad of 30 players. Avijit Kar, who was replaced in the first round by Ranajit Pandit due to some health issues, has now been registered for the final round along with Supratik Barui (Striker), Rahul Paswan (Striker), Ravin Modi and two of United SC U-16 prodigies Tarak Hembram and Basudeb Mandi.

United SC made a positive start on a hot sunny morning at the Kalyani Stadium with a attacking intent and got five corners only in 15 minutes of the first half. The purple youths dominated the midfield area and their continuous effort to break the deadlock bore fruit in the 17 minutes when Sandip Bhattacharya got his first goal of the match. Immediately after that USC got another easy chance but missed it.

In the 22nd minute, Sandip Bhattacharya got his second goal and enhanced the scoreline to 2-0. Then on 41 minutes Dipankar Baral made no mistake to put the ball into the back of the opponents net to give United SC a 3-0 lead. Again it was Dipankar Baral to score on 43 minutes to almost ensure their victory at half-time.

United SC made a change before the second half with Rahul Kumar Paswan replaced by Rikdev Paul. Starting with a 4-0 lead, United SC continued to have control over the midfield and kept the maximum ball possesion.

United SC had to make a substitution when Rana Pandey got injured and their U-16 product Tarak Hembram made his debut in the U-18 I-League. As the match went on it seemed the opposition losing their temper and on 65 minutes they were reduced to 10 men, when the United SC keeper was badly kicked by Aniwesh Gurung, who was given a straight red.

United SC took advantage of the circumstances and in turn made a magnificent move in the 75th minute from which Sandip Bhattacharya got his first hattrick in the U-18 I-League. Moments later on 77 minutes Dipankar Baral also completed his hattrick and gave a comfort lead to United SC over Bhaichung Bhutia Football School.

Seeing the dominance, United SC made another change where Supratik Barui made his debut for USC in the U-18 I-League. It seems United SC made a vow today to demolish their opponent. It was on 80th and 81st minute’s when Supratik Barui scored two back to back goals for USC and enhanced their scoreline to 8-0. Finally out of a brilliant cross by Tarak Hembram, Dipankar Baral made it 9-0 deep into injury time.

United SC will play their next match against Salgaocar FC on Sunday, April 30 at 3.30pm at the Kalyani Stadium.
