As XtraTime reports, FC Pune City created history by beating Mohun Bagan 3-0 in the final of the 121st edition of the U-19 IFA Shield at the latters home ground on Sunday afternoon.
FC Pune City’s Gani Ahmmed Nigam opened the account for the visitors in the 56th minute. Thereafter FC Pune City got a penalty in the 66th minute and Gani didn’t miss the chance to score his second of the match to double the lead. Then it was FC Pune City’s Liran Thunga Lothar to put the final nail in the Mariners’ coffin as he scored his first and team’s third in the 84th minute.
For the Indian Super League franchise FC Pune City this was the biggest success at youth level so far after having taken over former I-League side Pune FC’s youth development program and developing it further.
FC Pune City had registered a win against the Green and Maroons in the Group Stages. In that match Gani Ahmmed Nigam was the Hero of the Match too as his team won the match by his solitary goal.
