Bringing together the worlds of football and street fashion in a whole new way, Werder Bremen, Glückstreter and UMBRO unveil an exclusive Werder Bremen edition of their chunky revivalist sneaker, the Neptune.
The UMBRO Neptune is a revival of one of our classic 1990s silhouettes, reissued as part of our Archive Research Project, and thus has a retro-feel, steeped in legacy, making it the perfect candidate for a Gruen-Weiss makeover.
Limited to 350 pairs only, the UMBRO Neptune WB is reimagined from the sole up, with a perforated leather upper replacing the traditional mesh for increased weather resistance, on a shoe originally inspired for all-terrain usage.
The chunky sole unit is retained, with green accents on the rear of the base, and upper heel – which is further embellished with a pride-inspired rainbow print; referencing the vibrant culture of the area surrounding both the Glückstreter store, and the WOHNINVEST Weserstadion. The heel tab features a green and white-webbed double diamond pattern, the tongue is crowned with an embroidered Werder Bremen crest on the front and the sneaker is completed with the words TRUE LOVE, embroidered on the inside of the tongue.
Included with Neptune WB are four different lace designs, each paying homage to different aspects of the collaboration. One pair of laces immortalises Werder’s slogan “Lebenslang Grün-Weiß”, another is white, with green-band scarf style tips. Also included is a green set with pride flag tips and finally, red and white checkers, taken from the Bremen flag Speckflagge.
