It was a cagey start in the opening minutes, with Bengaluru FC dominating much of the possession. Ryan Williams’ run down the right flank in the 11th minute was the first real opening of the game. He was brought down outside the box, but Kuziev’s following free-kick was punched out by the KBFC Goalie.
BFC kept getting closer and closer to the first goal, and at the 27th minute the breakthrough came via a Fallou own goal, when he put a low cross from Ryan Williams into his own net, in an effort to defend Sunil Chhetri.
However, all was not rosy for BFC, as in the 34th minute, Braian Sanchez was shown a straight red by the referee, leaving the Blues with 10 men for the remainder of the game. BFC took a 1-0 lead into the break.
With 10 men on the pitch, BFC kept battling through the second half, but Bertomeu opened up space for him, with slick feet, to beat Bheke, and put one beyond Gurpreet to equalize for KBFC in the 60th minute.
Things went from bad to worse for Bengaluru FC, as Franchu made a determined run down the right-flank, to cut into the box, and squeeze one past Gurpreet at the near post from an acute angle to give KBFC the lead in the 78th minute.
Despite BFC’s wave after wave of attack, the numerical disadvantage meant, KBFC registered their first win of the season.
