The response in the City of Joy was overwhelming with many people of all ages turning up and getting a chance to view and pose with the silverware.
Project Director of the Local Organising Committee for FIFA U-17 World Cup India 2017, Joy Bhattacharjya said, “It was important that the public in Kolkata get to see the Winner’s Trophy, the same one that gets lifted just a few kilometres from here on October 28th. We’re very happy to see so many people turn out in the scorching heat today, some from even 200 kilometres away!”
The Winner’s Trophy will make its way next to Mumbai at the FIFA Legends‘ match which will take place on September 6, marking 30 days to go for 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup in India.
The tournament, which happens to be the first FIFA event in the country, will be played between October 6 – 28. Tickets for the same are available on fifa.com/india2017/ticketing .
