2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup – India: Brazil, Chile, Paraguay & Colombia qualify!

The 2017 South American Under-17 Football Championship ended yesterday with Brazil, Chile, Paraguay and Colombia qualifying for the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup in India later this year.

The 2017 South American Under-17 Championship is a football competition for under-17 national teams in South America organized by CONMEBOL and it was held in Chile from February 23 to March 19, 2017.

Brazil defended their title, their 12th overall, by topping the Final Six stage ahead of the hosts Chile, Paraguay and Colombia with Venezuela and Ecuador missing out on a chance to play at the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup.

Indian football fans will surely be missing South American powerhouse Argentina, who along with Peru, Uruguay and Bolivia were eliminated at the preliminary South American stage.

The four South American nations Brazil, Chile, Paraguay and Colombia join hosts India; Asian sides Iran, Iraq, Japan and North Korea; besides New Zealand and New Caledonia from Oceania at the 24 team 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup.
