Peru were better of the blocks, but they were wasteful infront of goal, while Denmark needed time to settle down. But after a rather uneventful first half, the referee with the help of VAR pointed in the 45th minute to the spot as Cueva was fouled by Poulsen, but Cueva himself blasted the shot way over the crossbar. At the break it was goalless.
After the break Denmark were suddenly the better team and in the 59th minute went ahead as Christian Eriksen send a through ball to Yussuf Poulsen and he coolly slotted home to give the Scandinavians the lead. Now Peru were attacking and they had their chances but either Kasper Schmeichel in goal, the Danish defence or missing the target denied Peru a goal. In game ended with Denmark winning 1-0 against Peru.
