In an attacking game of football, ATK went ahead through a long-ranger by Jayesh Rane in the 14th minute but the lead lasted only 10 minutes as Thoi Singh equalised for the home side.
Just before the break ATK were awarded a penalty as Eli Sabia handled a Hitesh Sharma shot. Captain Manuel Lanzarote stepped up and put his team ahead again to give them a 2-1 half-time lead.
Chennaiyin FC came out with the intent of equalising but after missing some chances, ATK were awarded a second handball penalty on the night as Carlos Salom handled the ball on the goalline. Lanzarote stepped up a second time and again scored to give ATK a 3-1 lead.
Chennaiyin FC did reduce the deficit late through a Isaac Vanmalsawma goal, but it wasn’t enough to at least salvage a point.
Chennaiyin FC now travel to face Mumbai City FC on December 6, while ATK now travel to Guwahati to face NorthEast United FC on December 8.
