Atletico de Kolkata to play ISL-3 home matches at Rabindra Sarobar Stadium!

Atletico de KolkataInaugural Indian Super League (ISL) champions Atletico de Kolkata along with the Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL) have decided that the Rabindra Sarobar Stadium in the south of Kolkata would be the home of ATK during the upcoming ISL-3.

The Rabindra Sarobar Stadium would host its first ISL match on Sunday, October 2 when ATK host defending champions Chennaiyin FC.

Atletico de Kolkata had played their home matches in the first two ISL seasons at the iconic Saltlake Stadium, but the venue would not be available during ISL-3 as the stadium is undergoing renovation work for the 2017 Under-17 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted by India.

Therefore in recent months, Atletico de Kolkata has been searching for a suitable venue in and around Kolkata with the Barasat Municipal Stadium and Mohun Bagan ground having failed the set criteria of the Football Sports Development Limited.

Then the 1961 build Rabindra Sarobar Stadium with its capacity of 22,000 spectators became an option and now the ground will be prepared by ATK with help from the FSDL and West Bengal government in the coming weeks for the upcoming ISL-3 season.
