“We’re delighted that we have managed to sign Niklas Süle, a Germany international, on a free transfer and have tied the player down for four years,” declared BVB sporting director Michael Zorc.
Sebastian Kehl, who will succeed Zorc in the role in the summer, explained: “Niklas has shown during the course of personal talks that he is really keen on Borussia Dortmund. He possesses a lot of experience, composure in his build-up play and the necessary physicality to take the next step with us from this summer onwards.”
Süle, who started his Bundesliga career at TSG Hoffenheim, has made 213 appearances in the Bundesliga (12 goals, six assists), 32 in the UEFA Champions League (one goal) and 37 for the Germany national team (one goal). He won the 2020 UEFA Champions League with Bayern Munich. This season, he has made more Bundesliga appearances than any other defender at his club (19).
