“The FIT India Movement is a fantastic initiative kick-started by our Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, and I would like to extend my congratulations to our Honorable Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju for creating the necessary awareness surrounding the Plogging Run that encourages citizens to lead a fit and clean lifestyle. Chennaiyin FC is an integral part of the local community and we saw this as a fantastic opportunity to further the government’s aim for a fitter and cleaner India, with our robust fanbase and the responsible citizens of Chennai and Tamil Nadu joining us in this endeavour. We hope this sparks a light in us to do more and lead an overall healthier lifestyle,” said Chennaiyin FC co-owner Vita Dani on the occasion.
The Chennai public along with supporters of Chennaiyin FC convened early in the morning at Thiruvanmiyur Beach and participated in the plogging run. While in Kanchipuram, the activity was organized with the help of students from Hindustan University, on a stretch from Padur to Kelambakkam area. As for Coimbatore, the event was conducted with the help of Rotaract Club of Coimbatore and the UUU Foundation, with students from Chennaiyin FC’s Chavara Soccer School also participating along with the general public.
There was widespread public response at all the venues, as Chennai and Tamil Nadu joined the entire nation in this fantastic initiative.
