Delhi Soccer Association holds special Workshop for member clubs!

Delhi Soccer AssociationThe Delhi Soccer Association (DSA), the football body of the Indian national capital, organised a one day workshop to support and assist its affiliated clubs from the ‘A’ and ‘B’ Divisions on how to get their clubs registered with Registrar of Societies to hold elections of DSA office bearers at the earliest.

In total 40 clubs attended the workshop with advocates Garima Shukla and Sahil addressing the workshop.

Garima Shukla told the Club Secretaries in detail about the process and benefits of registration.

The DSA President Subhash Chopra briefed about the need and advantages of registration. He told the club secretaries that the All India Football Federation wants all club registered like their parent bodies, the Associations, to be registered. He further said without registration the clubs have no legal value and that all clubs will benefit from registration as registered clubs will hold weight before potential sponsors.

He added clubs need to get registered within 15 days so that the DSA election could be held at the earliest and that this was the only way to make DSA and its affiliated clubs transparent and accountable.

He said he is ready to help clubs in getting registered. He further assured that once the club apply for registration with Registrar of Societies they will be eligible to participate in the elections.

The DSA President Subhash Chopra alos informed those present about the good news of Rs 5 million (50 lakhs) sponsorship of the DSA, but he did not mention who was behind the sponsorship.

The present club secretaries were very enthusiastic and said they are ready to get registered within the next 15 days.

Earlier, the Delhi Soccer Association had unimously adopted the new DSA Constitution on the lines of AIFF/AFC guidlines issued to all its members associations on 14.6.2015 in the DSA Special/Extra-ordinary AGM meeting and it was decided that all the DSA council members would also amend their respective constitution in line with the constitution of AIFF/ AFC and for their legal identity they shall compulsorily register themselves with the Registrar of Societies.

On 27.9.2016, the DSA had raised the matter of conducting its election before the AIFF Executive committee by the DSA President himself, who is also an AIFF Vice-President, where it was unaimously decided that the DSA will be given six months time to hold their elections as per the new constitution so that the associated units have enough time to complete their registration formalities and nominate one member each to cast his vote on behalf of their club in the elections to be held as per the amended constitution.

For that purpose the DSA held its workshop to guide and assist its affiliate member clubs to decide the future course of action for conducting the elections and the process has already been initiated and duly held by the DSA as soon as the period of six months granted by AIFF is set to run out soon.
