This year the event was bigger with the introduction of two new teams ‘EBRP Since 1920’ and ‘EBRP Born To Win’ into the competition to make it an eight team affair. In the end EBRP Pancha Pandavs won the final against EBRP Burning Torch.
Midfield maestro Mehtab Hossain came to the EBRP Fest and he was greeted with a round of huge applause and chants. MH14 a dedicated servant to the Club had given everything without expecting any. Former captain Of East Bengal and member of the Indian national team, his nicknames in Mr. Consistent and Midfield General says it all what East Bengal fans think about him.
In a some great work of EBRP, they carried out a fundraising campaign and helped economically weak Rony Das and his family when he was in the hospital for surgery after being left unattended in Sambhunath Pandit Hospital for 5 days. Rony Das, an ardent East Bengal fan, met with an ill-fated bike accident and lost his right leg. EBRP presented Rony with a sum of Rs 1 lakh, a wheelchair and they vowed to take him to the very first match of the season. Abhijit Mondal did the honour on behalf of EBRP.
Former East Bengal left back Soumik Dey and goalkeeper Abhra Mondal, who lifted Fed Cup with East Bengal without conceding a goal, were both honoured by EBRP at their Fest.
Soumik Dey said, “Everyone might have forgotten me and my achievements but EBRP remained by my side to honour me and Abhra Mondal!”
In the end it was another successful Sunday for East Bengal The Real Power and their EBRP Fest.
