Australia, China, Chinese Taipei, Iran, Lebanon, Myanmar, Nepal and Vietnam will discover their opponents at the official draw in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Thursday at 3pm.
Having come through Round 1 – held between March 6 and 12 – by topping each of their respective groups, the eight teams will be divided into two groups of four in Round 2, which takes place from June 3 to 11.
Each group will play a one-round league format in a centralised venue, with the winner and runner-up from each group qualifying for the 2024 AFC U-20 Women’s Asian Cup – Uzbekistan Finals. They will be joined by the three highest-seeded teams from the AFC U-19 Women’s Championship Thailand 2019 – Japan, North Korea, and South Korea – as well as host nation, Uzbekistan.
The names of the eight teams will be drawn from four pots, with the seedings based on the rankings of the 2019 AFC U-19 Women’s Championship – Thailand. The teams which did not participate in that tournament – IR Iran, Nepal, Lebanon and Chinese Taipei – have been added as the lowest-ranked sides. The two Host Member Associations will be determined at a later stage.
The seeding pots are as follow
Pot 1: Australia and China
Pot 2: Vietnam and Myanmar
Pot 3: Iran and Nepal
Pot 4: Lebanon and Chinese Taipei
