Eintracht Frankfurt sign Noah Atubolu!

The 24-year-old goalkeeper Noah Atubolu moves to Frankfurt from Bundesliga rivals SC Freiburg on an initial loan basis. The Hessian club have secured a purchase option, which will automatically trigger an obligation to buy under certain conditions.

Noah Atubolu was born in Freiburg im Breisgau in 2002 and joined the SC Freiburg academy at the age of 13, where he progressed through all the youth teams. He made his debut in men’s football at the age of 18 for Freiburg’s U23 side and played an important part in the team’s promotion to the third division as well as their second-place finish in the 2022/23 season. Following on from that, Atubolu established himself as first-choice goalkeeper for the Freiburg first team.

In his maiden professional campaign, the 1.90m goalkeeper kept 15 clean sheets in the Bundesliga, UEFA Europa League and DFB-Pokal. In the last two Bundesliga seasons, Atubolu has set not one, but two records. First he went 609 minutes without conceding a goal, setting a new club best. Then in September 2025, he saved a fifth consecutive Bundesliga penalty, a new record in the German top flight.

The 24-year-old’s strong performances helped Freiburg qualify for the Europa League, where they went all the way to the final in the 2025/26 campaign. Atubolu started all 15 games for the Black Forest outfit and conceded just 13 goals in the competition. As a result, he has also come into the wider German national team fold.

In total, Atubolu has made 125 appearances in all competitions for the Freiburg first team as well as 81 for the second string in the 3. Liga and Regionalliga.

The shot-stopper has also gained international experience at youth level for Germany. After 10 outings for the U17, U19 and U20 teams, Atubolu established himself in the U21s. With 22 appearances, he is the team’s most-capped goalkeeper, with his last appearance coming in summer 2025 in the final of the U21 EURO.

Board member for sport Markus Krösche said: “In Noah Atubolu, we’re gaining a strong, ambitious and yet already very experienced goalkeeper. He brings great potential, mentality and the quality to give our team an important boost. We’re confident that Noah will take the next step in his development with us and strengthen our team.”

Noah Atubolu: “I’m very happy to be here and can’t wait to get started at Eintracht Frankfurt. I know the city, the club and the stadium, and have always found it special playing here. I’m really looking forward to the new challenge.”
