FC Goa sign young striker Manvir Singh for ISL-4!

Indian Super League franchise FC Goa have signed young striker Manvir Singh ahead of ISL-4 as part of their Indian quota of non-draft players.

22 year old Manvir Singh, the son of former India international Kuldeep Singh, has had an eventful 2016/17 season. He joined Mohammedan Sporting Club from Minerva Punjab FC, making a name for himself at the Black Panthers in the Calcutta Football League and the Second Division League.

He then was called up to the Bengal Santosh Trophy squad and scored a 119th minute winner for the record champions against the hosts Goa to become a hero in the Mecca of Indian football, Kolkata.

As this did not go unnoticed by the Indian national team coach Stephen Constantine, who called him for trials and then selected him to be a part of the India Under-22 team playing the 2018 AFC U-23 Championship qualifiers recently in Qatar. There Manvir scored his first goal for India, the 1-1 equaliser against Turkmenistan, the turning point in a 3-1 win.

Now Manvir will leave Kolkata after the end of the Calcutta Football League, where he continues to play for Mohammedan Sporting Club, to move on to FC Goa and the Indian Super League, where he will hope to also impress to get playing time and score goals. Its a big step up from Calcutta Football League and the Second Division League, but if he continues his progress of the last few months, a lot can be expected from Manvir at FC Goa.
