The Gaurs, who have been on a tear of late brought their industriousness to the east coast of South India. Goals from Ahmed Jahouh, Brandon Fernandes and Hugo Boumous helped Goa to a commanding 3-0 lead heading into half-time.
Chennaiyin FC, however, showed real character to pull the game back to 3-2 within the opening few minutes in the second half through two quick goals from Schembri and Crivellaro. However, just as Chennaiyin FC thought they were finding their groove, FC Goa’s talisman, Ferran Corominas struck a deadly blow in the 63rd minute of the game to stretch the lead back to two goals.
Chennaiyin FC, were though resolute in their resolve to script a comeback and a sublime strike from Rafael Crivellaro in the first minute of added-on time made matters interesting.
The league-leaders, though, held on and showed great resolve to eke out all three points from the visit to Chennai.
