Gokulam Kerala FC appoint Spaniard Francesc Bonet as new head coach!

Gokulam Kerala FC has appointed former Rajasthan United FC head coach Francesc Bonnet to replace Cameroonian coach Richard Towa.

The 29-year-old, who hails from Barcelona, was the head coach of I-League rivals Rajasthan United FC last season.

The coach was known for his smooth, dominant style of play last season. Rajasthan United, who made their I-League debut in the season, finished sixth.

Having coached Catalan clubs FC Martinenc, CE El Hospitalet, UD Park and CF Almogavars in his native Spain, Bonnet also worked as a coach at the Barça Academy in Barcelona.

At the age of 21, he received his UEFA Pro License.

After leaving Rajasthan United, Bonnet worked as an assistant coach at Guatemalan club Santa Lucia Cotsumalgupa.

He is expected to join Gokulam Kerala FC’s Kozhikode camp within two days.

“I am very happy to be in Gokulam Kerala and I hope we can create history together. I’m sure the fans will enjoy the team, my teams will dominate games with the ball and create a lot of chances, and here we have the players for that,” said Francesc Bonet after signing the contract with the club.

“Bonet is a young coach. He has a similar philosophy of club – attacking football. We were impressed with his style of play when he trained at Rajasthan United and we hope he can replicate his fluid game here. We wish him all the best this season,” said Gokulam Kerala FC president V.C. Praveen.
