East Bengal football secretary Santosh Bhattacharya confirmed the development by saying, “We have received an e-mail from him stating that he does not want to continue for the remaining two matches.”
“We’re yet to take a final call. We will sit with him and decide what best can be done for the remaining two matches.”
East Bengal host Sporting Clube de Goa on Friday, April 15 before travelling to Shillong Lajaong FC for the final I-League match on Sunday, April 24. And for the final two games of the campaign, assistant coach Sanjay Mahji will take charge with the other assistant coaches Sammy Omollo and Debjit Ghosh to remain at the club as part of the East Bengal coaching staff.
