Mumbai City FC kickstarted their 2023-24 Indian Super League campaign and their league title defence with a 2-1 win over NorthEast United FC at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium on Sunday, September 24. Jorge Pereyra Díaz started from where he left off in the ISL as the Argentine grabbed a brace on either side of a Parthib Gogoi strike to seal all three points for the Islanders.
