The two sides had a competitive clash as Chennaiyin FC had the solid start and continued to create chances, but they went into the halftime break with a goal behind when the Jamshedpur FC boys struck against the flow of play. Piyush Thakuri, who had a brace in the previous game, swung in a looping cross for Meitei, who beat his marker to head the ball past Samik Mitra who was guarding the Chennaiyin goal.
But it wasn’t too long before Chennaiyin FC got back into the game as they equalised early in the second half when Johnson Joseph provided an assist to Joseph Lalvenhima to place the ball into the back of the net from between two Jamshedpur FC defenders. Sufiyan Shaikh and Johnson both came close to scoring before the referee pointed to the spot when substitute, Rahul Manjula, was fouled inside the box by the goalkeeper. Later on, Chennaiyin FC’s Pasha converted the chance from 12 yards spot with two minutes remaining on the clock, but the Jamshedpur FC boys weren’t done.
Just when the Chennaiyin FC side though that they had the upper hand in the game and would end the day with a win in their tally, Lalruatmawia slotted it home from inside the box to bring Jamshedpur FC to par in the final moments of the game.
The eventful match ended in a stalemate with the two sides sharing the points at the full-time whistle.
With a win and a draw in the bag from their first two games in the Reliance Foundation Development League, the Jamshedpur FC Youth Team will now be facing FC Goa in their next game on April 24 with the aim of keeping their top-notch form intact to keep scoring wonderful goals and keep harvesting points from their games ahead.
