Jamshedpur FC overcome NorthEast United FC through a Aniket Jadhav strike!

Match 500 in the history of the Indian Super League featured Jamshedpur FC and NorthEast United FC on an auspicious night.

Jamshedpur FC made multiple changes in their line-up and entered the pitch in hopes of securing the crucial three points and scoring their second victory and since it was a special occasion, both teams, undoubtedly, had every intention of putting up a thrilling performance and making it memorable.

Finally, the hosts took the 500th match underway. The ball possession was shared by both teams in the first 20 minutes equally. But, Jamshedpur FC took charge of the possession after the drinks break. The match grew aggressive in the first half as multiple fouls and rash tackles were committed by NorthEast United FC.

Soon, the first opportunity came for NorthEast United FC as Appiah entered the box to take an attempt on goal, but the box was lurking with Jamshedpur defenders to block the shot away. However, Appiah’s shot went wide to the left post. Both teams had equal chances to net the opening goal as they got free kicks very close to the penalty box, but nothing came out of them. Jamshedpur FC dominated the ball possession and overall statistics with some high-paced attacks and man-to-man marking thus marking an end to the first half of the game.

As the second half kicked off, Jamshedpur FC came in with a barrage of attacks to get their first goal out of which one of them turned out to be a successful one. Jackichand put an accurate cross to Aniket Jadhav who was waiting in the middle of the box unmarked. Aniket converted it into a goal successfully with a clean finish into the middle which the keeper failed to save, thus giving his team a much-needed lead.

Just a few minutes later, NorthEast United FC too received a golden opportunity to level the score; they were awarded a penalty from the spot after a very risky tackle from Stephen Eze inside the box led to the referee pointing towards the spot. The Highlander forward, Idrissa Sylla, came up to take the penalty shot; he swiftly kicked the ball aiming to put it into the right corner, but Rehenesh once again proved why he is one of the best keepers in the league. He predicted the direction Idrissa chose to put the ball in and dove beautifully to his side, pushing the ball out of the way thus keeping Jamshedpur FC’s lead intact.

After the confident save, Jamshedpur FC upped their intensity; they got rid of every chance the Highlanders could convert and increased the pressure with multiple counter-attacks. Then, in came another danger knocking on the NorthEast United’s door as Jacki moved into the right flank looking to cross the ball in for the forwards. Jacki saw the keeper was off his goal-line and shot the ball hoping to put it into the net. Unfortunately, the ball smacked the woodwork and deflected off the goal.

With just a couple of minutes left to the game, NorthEast United tried to score a late equaliser and close the fixture with a draw; they came in with multiple attacks from the middle and flanks, but the Jamshedpur FC defence stood strong and kept the ball away from the goal.

And that’s how the 500th match of the ISL came to an end with Jamshedpur FC registering their second win of ISL-7, breaking the unbeaten run of the Highlanders, bagging the crucial three points, and catapulting to the fifth position in the league table.
