Manchester United Soccer Schools host first North American youth teams!

As part of Sportsbreaks.com’s recent expanded partnership with Manchester United, the club were delighted to welcome over the first North American youth teams to the club’s training facility at Littleton Road, to experience the Team Training Programme.

The opportunity, hosted by Manchester United Soccer Schools (MUSS), was organised via the partner’s sister company inspiresport, the UK’s number one development tour operator, through their Generation adidas International brand.

The visits took place over a two-week period, with Soccer.com’s elite U-15 boys and girls squads selected from key youth clubs across North America, before the club welcomed the U-13 and U-14/U-15 girls squads from the Manhattan Soccer Club, New York.

Both were able to experience the MUSS Team Training Programme, which focused on giving an insight into the club’s youth culture and history, as well as the club’s core coaching techniques and principles.

These training camps are also a great opportunity for developing team bonding on and off the field as part of an intensive itinerary which can be great preparation for their seasons back in the US.

It was a huge privilege to work with the youngsters who showed great commitment to learning and a spirit to keep enjoying their football.

Paul Turner, director of community and business development at Seacoast United, MA South, said, “I can’t thank MUSS enough!”

“Fantastic few days and I know I speak on behalf of all the coaches and players when I tell you how welcome you made us feel.”

MUSS is the official provider of global and domestic coaching, coach education programmes and football experiences for the club’s commercial partners.

During the first leg of Tour 2022 in Bangkok, through the partnership with adidas, the Soccer Schools delivered football sessions to youngsters in the Thai capital with Reds legends Darren Fletcher and Denis Irwin among those involved.

Later on tour, during the visit to Melbourne, MUSS travelled out to the Robert Barrett Reserve in Maribyrnong, to deliver a coaching session with the Afghanistan women’s national team.

The day comprised of taking the team through a typical training session that the Soccer Schools deliver as part of the professional game training and coach education programme.

It was inspiring to not only see their talent but also their determination to overcome their personal challenges and persevering with their football careers as a great team builder and positive purpose in their lives.
