Former I-League champions Minerva Punjab FC have announced the signing of Nigerian striker Orok Orok Essien and Brazilian Sergio Barboza Jr. for the 2019/20 season.
27 year old Orok Orok Essien started his football in his native Nigeria playing for Lagos Athletico FC, Audu Babes and Mozico. He then went on to play for amateur clubs Calabar Rover, Anantigha Warriors, and Anambra United before coming to India to play for Kenkre FC in Mumbai.
From there he went on to play for George Telegraph SC, Mumbai FC, East Bengal Club, Morning Star FC in Assam, Viva Chennai, Bhowanipore FC, and then Paro FC in Bhutan before now moving for the first-time to the North of India.

New to India will be Brazilian Sergio Barboza da Silva Junior. The 26 year old Rio de Janeiro-born winger played for CR Flamengo U-20s before going to play for smaller Brazilian clubs.
Sergio Barboza Jr. then played in Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras before moving to Asia to play in Laos for Master 7 FC twice and Svay Rieng FC in Cambodia before now moving to India.
