Mizoram Premier League: Aizawl FC edge past Chanmari West FC!

mpl-aizawl-fc-chanmari-west-fcDefending Mizoram Premier League champions Aizawl FC returned to winning ways against Chanmari West FC through a solitary goal from William Lalnunfela in the second half. The I-League contenders now have 16 points and are closing in on booking a place in the semifinals.

An openly contested game saw Aizawl FC conjure up chances but ultimately failing to find the net. New signing Benjamin still looked out of sorts in the line-up while striker Bright Mends, although commendable in his hold-up play and work ethic, still needs to find his shooting boots.

Chanmari West FC displayed why they are one of the best counter-attacking sides in the league and twice found the net in the first half only to be ruled offside. They also made sure Aizawl FC’s goalkeeper T. Mawia had a busy night delivering a superb performance.

Aizawl FC duly found the net on the 77th minute when William Lalnunfela converted winger Brandon’s cross. The striker who had been out of the side recently made sure his side earned a much needed three points.

Aizawl FC’s custodian Zothanmawia was duly named Man of the Match for his superb performance.
