I-League champions Aizawl FC closed out round 13 of the Mizoram Premier League – Season 6 with a routine victory over Chanmari West FC at the AR Lammual in Aizawl.
A first half goal from Masih Saighani and a late strike from William Lalnunfela were enough to ensure victory for Aizawl FC who have already sealed their semifinal spot.
Chanmari West FC put in a disciplined shift in the match and came close to finding the net on a couple of occasions but were ultimately beaten by a team with better individual quality.
The result sees them still in the relegation playoff spot with 11 points from 13 games, three points above bottom team Dinthar FC.
They only need a point in the final round to ensure their safety from relegation and secure a relegation playoff spot.
Should they fail to earn a point and Dinthar FC come out on top against Chanmari FC in round 14, they will be relegated with Dinthar FC moving above them as Dinthar FC had already beaten them in round 8 while the two teams settled for a draw in round 5.
Playmaker Andrei Ionescu was named man of the match.
