After a shock defeat to bottom strugglers Dinthar FC, Bethlehem Vengthlang FC looked to get back to winning ways in the Mizoram Premier League against Chanmari West FC. They duly got their three points courtesy of a solitary goal from new signing Lalnunmawia, but opponents Chanmari West FC will definitely feel hard done by the result.
There was plenty of action right from the start of the match with Chanmari West FC’s Laldampuia and Laldanmawia looking particularly threatening right from the off. The pair tormented BVT’s backline time and again in the first half with Danmawia coming close on a couple of occasions.
Bethlehem Vengthlang FC looked to hit their opponents on the break and they were finally successful on the 32nd minute when Lalnunmawia netted a beautiful strike past the goalkeeper.
The second half saw Chanmari West getting the better of their opponents conjuring up chances but ultimately failing to convert them.
They were denied by a goal line clearance, twice by the woodwork and also had a beautiful free kick from Reuben denied. Bethlehem Vengthlang FC, against the run of play, also had an opportunity to double their lead through Lalnunmawia in the closing stages. The new signing dragging his shot just wide of the post.
Goal scoring hero and new signing Lalnunmawia was named Man of the Match.
