Mohammedan Sporting colts started their campaign with a 1-3 loss to United SC. However the Murari Kar-coached side bounced back with a 2-0 win over Southern Samity. SAI, on the other hand, suffered a 1-2 losse against East Bengal and then a loss to Mohun Bagan respectively in their first two matches.
For the record, the last two meetings of these two teams ended in a goalless and 2-2 draw respectively in last season.
