Mumbai FC continue the trend of giving local talent a chance at the top level as 20-year old Farukh Choudhary signed for the Mumbaikars in the I-League 2016-17 season. The youngster based out of Ambernath in Mumbai first came to prominence at LoneStar Kashmir FC in the 2015/16 Second Division League, as he scored five goals in 15 matches.
Farukh is a youth product of the former Peninsula Pune FC Academy where he scored four goals for the colts against Mohun Bagan’s under-19 team in the IFA Shield.
On signing with Mumbai FC he said, “I am very excited to get this opportunity. Mumbai FC marks the beginning of my dream and I am really looking forward to playing under the guidance of a coach like Santosh Kashyap.”
The forward will add depth to the existing Mumbai FC frontline as the club continues to strengthen the squad ahead of the upcoming I-League season.
Farukh Choudhary joins Mumbai FC from Indian Super League – Season 3 finalists Kerala Blasters FC, where he made his top level debut against former champions Atletico de Kolkata on October 5.
