NorthEast United FC retain Uruguay midfielder Federico Gallego!

Indian Super League franchise NorthEast United FC have announced the retention of Uruguayan midfielder Federico Gallego for the 2021/22 season.

The 31 year old Montevideo-born Federico Gallego Revetria started his youth career with Institución Atlética Sud América, where he also made his senior debut in 2010.

He stayed with the club for six senior level seasons with a loan spell at Argentino Juniors in neighbouring Argentina before signing for Comunicaciones FC in Guatemala.

Only a year later Gallego returned to Uruguay to sign for local side Liverpool Futbol Club, but in 2017 he signed for Boston River.

Then in the summer of 2018 Gallego moved for the first-time outside of the Americas to India by signing for NorthEast United FC and there he was an influential player in the Highlanders first run to the ISL semifinals. He returned to the Highlanders for a second season in ISL-6, but it didn’t work out as the year earlier due to injury but he once again was a very influential player in ISL-7 and now he will spend his fourth season with NorthEast United FC.
