NorthEast United FC sign English striker Matt Derbyshire!

Indian Super League franchise NorthEast United FC have announced the signing of English striker Matt Derbyshire for the 2022/23 season.

36 year old Matthew Anthony Derbyshire, who was born in Great Harwood, played for Darwen FC in his youth.

At senior level, Matt Derbyshire played for Great Harwood Town before being signed by Blackburn Rovers. During his time with the Rovers, he spend time on loan with Plymouth Argyle, AFC Wrexham and Greek giants Olympiacos.

In 2009, Matt Derbyshire joined Olympiacos permanently but spend time on loan with Birmingham City. Thereafter he joined Nottingham Forest with loan spells at Oldham Athletic and FC Blackpool. He then also played for Rotherham United, Cyprus side AC Omonia, Australia’s Macarthur FC before returning to Cyprus once more to join AEK Larnaca.

Now Matt Derbyshire moves to India to join the Highlanders.
