The custodian, who celebrates his 26th birthday on Wednesday, started six of Qatar’s seven matches with the Maroons defeating Jordan 3-1 in a thrilling final at the Lusail Stadium on Saturday.
Barsham, who plays his club football with Al Sadd SC, was rock-solid throughout Qatar’s campaign.
He kept three clean sheets out of the seven matches Qatar played – having come on as substitute in the final group match against China PR.
The custodian played a major role in Qatar joining Iran, Japan, Korea Republic and Saudi Arabia in winning back-to-back AFC Asian Cup titles.
Congratulations to #Qatar for defending their #AsianCup2023 title with a 3-1 victory against a courageous #Jordan!!!
Qatar needed three penalties to win the game, while Jordan had their moments especially at the start of the 2nd half.#AsianFootball
