
Speaking on the occasion Fr. Simpliciano Fernandes mentioned the need for students to have a balance of sports and academics in their life. He also thanked Sporting Clube de Goa for the assistance provided to all the age group teams. Fr. Simpliciano further congratulated the U-16 Girls Football Team of St. Xaviers HS, Moira who have qualified to represent Goa in the Junior Girls category at Subroto Cup International Football Tournament held in the National Capital. The Sporting Goa General Secretary Edward Noronha speaking to the students at the occasion stressed on the need of living healthy and having good nutrition to excel in both sports and academics. He also stressed on the need for kids to study and get good marks at school along with the sports activities.
The Headmistress Shilpa Samant speaking to the media said, “I am very happy about this tie up with Sporting Clube de Goa, we usually see that only city based schools get this kind of privilege from clubs and village based schools are always sidelined. This is a great opportunity for both sides, for us to get the professional exposure and for Sporting to hunt local talents. I hope this endeavour turns into a great success for both of us.”
The Under-16 Girls Team of St. Xaviers High School in Moira was also felicitated by the officials from Sporting Clube de Goa at the occasions. The team has now travelled to New Delhi to participate in the Subroto Cup International Football Tournament will kick start from September 26.
