Speaking about his expectation from the match Sporting Goa coach Mateus Costa said, “It’s always nice to start with a win, we couldn’t do that in Goa Police Cup but it will be even better to start with a trophy. We have found our rhythm in the previous match; we need to build on the same there is a lot more to do from here on.”
Speaking about the mood within the camp, Costa said, “The previous win has definitely been a morale booster for us. A win in the Champions Trophy would definitely add a lot of confidence ahead of the Goa Pro League.”
Speaking about the performance of the team in Pre-Season and the Goa Police Cup, Costa said, “Our young players have proved themselves capable and reliable for the bigger occasions. I am extremely happy with the way Brandon Gomes and Avrhishto Fernandes has shaped up; they are very young and have a lot of potential.” The gaffer also heaped praises for Quan Gomes and Victorino Fernandes who were exceptional in the previous match.
Sporting Goa however will miss the services of an impressive Brandon and Ponif Vaz due to injuries. Gaffer Costa said, “They are recovering but we would not like to exert any pressure as they are an important part of our team and we will need them for the upcoming tournaments.”
Speaking about Salgaocar FC, coach Costa said “They have a fine young side and am sure it will be a good competitive match on Sunday.”
Salgaocar FC head coach Norbert Gonsalves said, “We are excited and looking forward towards a good match on Sunday.”
He further added, “We have a lot of new boys and we are in the preparation period. The time isn’t enough I would still say we are on the preparatory mode.”
Speaking about the squad coach Norbert said, “We have a very young side, barring a few experienced players the rest are our youth team players whom we have promoted.” He added, “We have the quality, our boys have proved it. All we need is some more exposure and then the boys will be all set to get the ball rolling.”
Speaking about Sporting Goa, coach Norbert said, “They are a good side and deserve respect but am sure our boys can give them a good fight.”
