Stage set for AFC U-20 Women’s Asian Cup semifinals!

The cast for the AFC U-20 Women’s Asian Cup Uzbekistan 2024 was finalised on Sunday with North Korea topping Group B after defeating Japan, who had qualified with a match to spare.

Australia and South Korea had booked their semifinal spots from Group A on Saturday, with all four teams also confirming their tickets to the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Colombia 2024.

Australia, who will meet Japan in the semifinals, topped Group A with a perfect record of three wins, having defeated South Korea (2-1), Uzbekistan (2-0) and Chinese Taipei (3-0).

Japan’s 1-0 defeat to North Korea meant they finished a point behind their East Asian rivals, having beaten Vietnam (10-0) and China (2-0) in their earlier matches.

North Korea were at their best on Sunday, with skipper Chae Un yong scoring the only goal of the game for her side to finish on seven points, having played to a 1-1 draw with China in their opener before defeating Vietnam 6-0.

Up next for North Korea are South Korea, who bounced back from their opening day 2-1 defeat against Australia to beat Chinese Taipei (6-0) and Uzbekistan (13-0).
