“We are delighted that VfL Wolfsburg are supporting the ‘a chance to play’ initiative,” said Beat Wehrle, who is responsible for the programme at terre des hommes. “VfL are once again demonstrating that they take their social responsibilities seriously. They are a strong partner with whom we can help girls and boys to build themselves up and develop their potential.”
“Terre des hommes has been an important partner and companion of VfL Wolfsburg for a number of years, implementing valuable projects for children,” added Nico Briskorn, head of Corporate Social Responsibility at VfL Wolfsburg. “We are so pleased to be able to continue to support sustainable projects for disadvantaged girls and boys. With its international approach to motivating children to take up educational and training opportunities via the intermediary of sport, the ‘a chance to play’ initiative ties in perfectly with our existing commitment.”
“Standing up for the less fortunate with a real focus on younger generations is part of our core business culture, and something that our employees support in many different ways,” said Daniela Cavallo, head of Volkswagen’s Group Works Councils. “The joint ‘a chance to play’ initiative has been close to the hearts of our staff for a long time now, and they follow the work carried out in the projects with a great deal of interest. As such, it is wonderful to be able to provide genuine support for young Wolves with VfL Wolfsburg as part of our overall family.”

The Volkswagen General and Group Works Councils’ commitment to the children’s welfare organisation has been in place since 1998. Supporting girls and boys as they strive to develop their potential is a goal shared by both sides, with their commitment now being extended even further. It includes the involvement of thousands of Volkswagen employees who voluntarily donate part of their salaries to children. It involves blisters from countless sponsored runs, cold hands from manning stands and collecting donations – in short, people who show an incredible level of commitment. This includes many who work for terre des hommes and partner organisations who show a commitment to helping children in a number of countries on a daily basis, often in difficult conditions. First and foremost, it is about coming together to work on behalf of thousands of children and young people around the world and sustainably improving their lives, listening to their concerns and giving them the time and space to play and kick a ball around, thanks to the support of both partners.
