Donata Hopfen to take over Germany’s DFL from Christian Seifert!

Donata Hopfen will take over as CEO of DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga GmbH from tomorrow on January 1, 2022. The 45-year-old was most recently a Managing Director and Partner at BCG Digital Ventures, a Boston Consulting Group company. As the successor to Christian Seifert, she will also assume the function of Speaker of the Executive Committee of DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga e.V. in accordance with the DFL by-laws.

The change at the helm of the DFL was announced on August 14, 2021.

“German professional football has a great tradition and is deeply embedded in society. The Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 enjoy an excellent reputation worldwide, as does the DFL,” Donata Hopfen said on her appointment. “This must be maintained against the backdrop of technical, societal and media changes relating to football – while at the same time moving forward in an innovative way. I am already looking forward to tackling current and future challenges, together with the clubs and the DFL team.”
