Calcio Padova was founded in 1910 in the offices of the Rari Nantes Patavium sports association and immediately chose red and white as club colours. In the years following the First world War, the club was among the most successful in the Veneto region and won promotion to Serie A in 1931-1932. The ‘Patavins’ enjoyed their greatest moments in the second half of the 1950s and early 1960s under the management of Paron Nereo Rocco, who transformed Padova into a team capable of challenging the top clubs of Serie A, who seldom emerged victorious from the Appiani stadium. Padova finished third in the 1957-1958 season. The magic seemed to fade with the departure of Rocco, who went on to manage an all-winning Milan, though in 1967 the Red and Whites managed to reach to final of the Coppa Italia, only to lose – against Milan. Padova occupies 22nd place in the list of clubs who have played in Serie A, with 16 seasons in the top division since its inception (the last time being in 1996).
Macron relates this history of over a hundred years through the shirts that the players of the ‘White Shield’ wear every year with pride and a sense of belonging to the colours of this historic club. The partnership between Macron and Padova will now reached the historic figure of ten years, proving the close ties between the parties and the existence of a shared sporting project.
“Ten years of partnership is always an important achievement,” declared Gianluca Pavanello, CEO of Macron. “It requires effective planning and a relationship based on mutual respect and trust. Calcio Padova has written important chapters in the history of Italian football and it is exciting for us to be able to tell the club’s story on the shirts that the players and fans wear with such pride and passion. The Macron Hero stands for determination, passion, sacrifice and the will to succeed. And this spirit is clearly visible in the players and managers of this club. Calcio Padova thoroughly deserves to achieve great things once again and to write new pages in the football history books.”
“We are happy to continue working with such an innovative and dynamic company as Macron. A club like us needs a top-flight technical partner with a nationwide presence who can combine top-quality products with an excellent level of service for players and fans alike.” Alessandra Bianchi, CEO of Calcio Padova, continues: “These first four years have given us an opportunity to get to know each other, to grow together and to develop new creative and commercial ideas with every season. The renewal of our partnership will enable us to do even better in future, thanks an increasingly profitable collaboration.”
