1.FC Heidenheim sign youngster Luca Kerber!

After Julian Niehues, the next transfer to the Schlossberg follows. Luca Kerber will play for 1.FC Heidenheim 1846 in the upcoming 2024/25 season. The 22-year-old central midfielder, whose contract expires in the summer, will move from 1.FC Saarbrücken to Brenz at the end of the season and will receive a contract with FCH until the summer of 2027.

“Luca is a young and highly talented player who has now made over a hundred third-division appearances and has also attracted attention in this year’s DFB Cup. We are delighted that Luca has decided to join our FCH team and are convinced that he can become an important component of our team,” said Robert Strauss, FCH Head of Sport, about the new signing.

Luca Kerber, who was born in Dillingen/Saar, played in the youth team of SSV Pachten until 2016 and moved to the Saarbrücken youth team in 2016 at the age of 14. In the years that followed, the midfielder went through all the youth teams of 1.FC Saarbrücken before being promoted from the U19s to the first team in the winter of the 2020/21 season.

In the past three years, Luca Kerber has played 105 games in the 3rd division (3.Liga) for FCS. The 1.80 metre tall midfielder scored eight goals and provided eleven assists. Luca Kerber has made five appearances in the DFB Cup. In the round of 16 this season, Kerber’s goal against Eintracht Frankfurt made it 2-0 and helped his team reach the quarterfinals. Later in the DFB Cup semi-finals, 1. FC Saarbrücken had to admit defeat last week, after a 0:2 defeat against 1.FC Kaiserlautern.

“I’m looking forward to playing for 1. FC Heidenheim 1846 from next season. With this new challenge, I would like to build on my previous achievements and develop myself on a new level, both athletically and personally. When the contract was signed, I was warmly welcomed by everyone involved and am therefore looking forward to playing on the Schlossberg from the summer onwards,” said Luca Kerber about his move to FCH.
