About the Author – ARUNAVA CHAUDHURI

Arunava ChaudhuriI was born on October 30, 1976 in Remscheid and brought-up in Germany; spending five years of my schooling in Kolkata in-between. As a German-born person of Indian origin, I played football as a youngster and remained interested in the game over the years.

My tryst with football media came in April 1998 when I founded IndianFootball.Com, India’s first website fully dedicated to football rather by-chance as I then wanted to teach myself how to program and make a website in HTML. Through this I created a niche for myself as a sports expert particularly in football, I honed his skills by working for various media organisations around the world, be it my formative years at the Deutsche Welle (radio, television & online), ESPN-Star Sports, Times Now, Headlines Today (India Today), WION and founding my German home town channel rs1.tv in Remscheid in 2010.

I have been quoted as an expert by numerous media organisations, while having given expert interviews to a number of television, radio, online channels and social media around the world.

Since April 2010, I have been writing my own blog, arunfoot – Arunava Chaudhuri about Football, with an India and Germany focus besides my opinion being sought as an expert by global media organisations. Since April 2016 my blog shifted to its own domain under www.arunfoot.com .

But besides my over 23 years of football media experience; I have over the years worked on a number of football projects across the world in management, as a consultant and strategist, having worked for the German Football Association (DFB), German Bundesliga, FC Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Eintracht Frankfurt, 1899 Hoffenheim, Manchester City (Etihad Airways), Southampton FC, worked in football development in the Caribbean (West Indies), the Indian national football team, being Mumbai City FC’s COO in the inaugural 2014 Indian Super League season and involved in youth development with RoundGlass Sports (Punjab, India).

Also I have moderated and/or been part of expert panels at football (soccer) conferences around the world, be it Soccerex, Leaders (in Sports), International Football Arena, World Football Forum, SpoBis, International Frankfurt Football Summit, FICCI, CII and many many more.

I have also had the pleasure of hosting numerous gala evenings like the Football Players Association of India (FPAI) organised Indian Football Awards.

Further I am a co-founder of local television channel rs1.tv in my home town in Remscheid, which was launched in December 2010, covering everything possible from around Remscheid.

Further outside of football I am involved in my local community in Remscheid with multiple organisations and also the Indian community in Germany as the current president of Indischer Kulturverein (Bharat Samiti) e.V. which in Cologne (Köln) hosts continental Europe’s biggest Durga Puja festival every year.
