Niels Nkounkou departs Eintracht Frankfurt on loan!

The full-back Niels Nkounkou has joined French top-flight club OGC Nice until the end of the season. The deal does not include a purchase option.

Eintracht Frankfurt have agreed to loan full-back Niels Nkounkou to French top-flight club OGC Nice until the end of the 2026/27 campaign. The deal does not include a purchase option.

Nkounkou has made 63 appearances in all competitions for Eintracht since moving to Frankfurt from AS St.-Étienne three years ago, registering three goals and three assists in that time. The Frenchman, who spent the 2025/26 campaign on loan at Torino FC and who remains under contract at Eintracht until 2028, was involved in the majority of the Eagles’ pre-season preparations and training camps this summer.

Sporting director Timmo Hardung: “We hope Niels rediscovers his form of old and gets regular playing time in France. We’re currently unable to guarantee him the game time needed to do so here, which is why we’re convinced that Nice is the right place for him to continue his development in a good environment.”
