I look forward to a special India game at the Kanteerava tonight!

I’ve made the journey across from my German home town of Remscheid to Bengaluru to catch Team India in action at the SAFF Championship 2023.

I flew from Düsseldorf via Dubai and Mumbai into Bengaluru with the original plans being to spend Saturday evening with the family but after India only drew with Kuwait and did not top their group, a change of Saturday evening plans was needed with the okay of the family.

If in town, I needed to make plans to be at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium which otherwise wouldn’t have been possible for the afternoon kickoff as my short but important Mumbai stopover was work related.

So now as India once more face Lebanon in the second semifinals of the SAFF Championship, I’ll be there at 7.30pm tonight and support the Blue Tigers from the stands.

Interestingly it will be my first India game at the very same venue since April 8, 2001; an historic afternoon it was back then in the 2002 FIFA World Cup qualifiers as India beat the mighty United Arab Emirates 1-0 through a Jules Alberto goal.

So I look forward to another India win at the Kanteerava tonight, so that only in three days I can watch them again in action and not wait another 22 years…

Sunil & the boys, I am banking on you all.

Common you Blue Tigers!!!
