Former Indian Super League champions ATK Mohun Bagan have officially bid farewell to their long-time goalkeeper Arindam Bhattacharya despite him having a contract until the end of the season.
In the summer, ATK Mohun Bagan had spend heavily to sign India No.2 international goalkeeper Amrinder Singh from Mumbai City FC as competition to Arindam Bhattacharya, the ISL Goalkeeper of the Season.
But Arindam in the recent three AFC Cup – South Zone group matches got no playing time, so he had to realise that head coach Antonio Lopez Habas is seeing Amrinder as the clubs new No. 1. Threfore now Arindam is looking for a new challenge with numerous ISL teams interested in him.
32 year old Kolkata-born Arindam Bhattacharya is a product of the Tata Football Academy.
At senior level he successfully played for Churchill Brothers from 2007 to 2013 before going to play for Mohun Bagan (2012/13), returning to Churchill Brothers (2013/14), FC Pune City (2014-17), Kalyani Bharat FC (2015), Sporting Clube de Goa (2016), Bengaluru FC (2017), Mumbai City FC (2017/18), and since 2018 he had been an ATK player, which is now ATK Mohun Bagan.
