Bengaluru FC & Mohun Bagan SG play out a high intensity goalless draw!

A high stakes encounter, a packed Kanteerava, Bengaluru FC vs Mohun Bagan Super Giant lived upto its name. Renedy Singh named an unchanged XI from the game against Mohammedan SC, the only change being Monirul Molla replacing Bungson Singh on the bench.

It was an end-to-end first half from both sides with Bengaluru FC looking to break out on quick counter attacks after absorbing the Mohun Bagan Press. Ryan Williams came close within the first 2 minutes of the game, but Vishal Kaith parried the one-on-one behind for a corner.

Maclaren’s acute angled shot was denied by Gurpreet Singh Sandhu shortly after. With both defenses putting in an excellent display, the game remained deadlocked at the break.

In the second half, the tussle in the middle of the park continued with both teams struggling to find the final ball through. With time ticking down, and the legs tiring, the game opened up a bit more.

Braian’s crunching tackle and a yellow card resulted in a free kick for Mohun Bagan in the 60th minute. A dangerous ball led to a good chance off the set piece, but Gurpreet Singh Sandhu kept it level for BFC.

At the other end, Ashique Kuruniyan went on a blistering run down the left flank, getting to the byline to cut it back to Sunil Chhetri, who had two shots at it, but was denied by the MBSG No. 1. Following this, the head coach of Mohun Bagan was shown a yellow card for dissent by the referee.

71st minute, Bengaluru FC survived the chance through pure luck, as Jamie attempted a left footed shot from the edge of the box, and a slight hiccup at the back saw the BFC defender almost help it into his own goal, but luckily for the Blues it trickled past the post.

Petratos was presented with a golden opportunity in the 85th minute of the game, with him being one-on-one in front of Gurpreet, but the No. 9 put it wide of the post!

That proved to be the last clear-cut chance of the game for either team, as the game remained a 0-0 draw at the final whistle.
